Inquiring minds want to know...
Jun. 23rd, 2008 03:27 pmOkay... so
aibhinn and I, being that we have a few things in common, not the least of which is our mutual first name (and hatred of some nicknames that go with it), are curious about something.
All ladies named Melissa or Michelle, this poll is for you. Feel free to pass along because yes, genuinely curious about this. I've now encountered a few people with this name swap.

Jaime
Jaimie
Jamey
Jame (yes, I've seen that one)
Jamy
Jaimy
Also, the name is unisex in the US; maybe not so much in the UK where it seems to be a common diminutive for James. And in Spanish-speaking countries, Jaime is always a boy.
Oh, joy!
PS: My mother named me Jamie Lynne, after the Bionic Woman. I was destined to be in fandom.

Date: 2008-06-24 05:48 am (UTC)I have most of my customers call me "V" or "Chickie" if the can't manage my name correctly.
neither a Melissa nor a Michelle, but--
Date: 2008-06-24 01:23 pm (UTC)My name is not Marie. My name is not Marcia.
The "it's because you're blond, and there are no blond Marias" excuse doesn't hold water. There are blond Marias. Maria Von Trapp was blond. Maria Bello is blond. Maria Antonia Josepha Johanna von Habsburg-Lothringen was probably blond (she wore powdered wigs, in any case). We bloody well do exist!
OK. End of rant.
