Short: Sweet Jeebus that was good

Long:

Holy. Jeebus. Fuck.

My admiration for the woman playing Sky (ETA: Lesley Sharpe - this is my dumb American showing through) is incredible. Absolutely incredible. Between the amount of lines she had to learn AND the accent switches AND the different speech rhythms of everyone else?

Holy crap. Creepy as hell. And yes, RTD - absolutely astounding technically.

The Doctor's switch into her rhythm of speech was just as creepy. God, between the two of them... *shudder*

IMHO, this is a perfect example of how to control and build tension. It's a piece to be studied, and not just for Doctor Who - but for anyone who wants to learn how to write proper suspense.

Erich's thought about this after the episode - "If there's one thing Doctor Who has taught us through the years, it's that the scariest monster in the universe is a mob of terrified humans."

We haven't evolved much past that group of humans in 10,000 BC, have we?

I forsee watching this about twenty more times this week. Just SOOOOO good.

That actress was so incredible. I'm seriously, like, beside myself with admiration. And David's acting was so good. Just... stellar, absolutely stellar. Even Donna's absence made not only plot-story sense, but dramatic-story sense; she couldn't be there and still have the story work.

Donna absolutely could not be there - he had to be completely on his own. A companion would have been jumping to his defense.

My ponderance is: How many takes did they go through to get the talking in unison and how many were because they started laughing?

What I do know is that they did do some runs of 15-minute takes. In many ways, it was stage acting with a camera just happening to be in the room.

Such an amazing episode. I need to see it again not on an iPod screen because it was just...wow.

Lesley Sharpe is such a spectacular actress. I saw her on stage a few weeks ago in a play called "Harper Regan" where she was in every scene and went through this whole emotional rollercoaster from beginning to end...it was amazing. One of the best performances I saw this semester.

God, this show.

The Doctor was so scared. I think that's what got to me the most. And it looked like he was fighting so hard against whatever was possessing him. It was really sad.

I think Russell Davies managed to be scarier than Moffat this series.

He definitely did. As much as I enjoyed the two-parter, this was a better episode by far. It's right up there with Blink for me, but they're both such different episodes, I really can't put one over the other.

My one word reaction? "Spooky"

I wanted to slap every one of those people. Freaking hate the mob mentality. But it is so damn human.

My second reaction? "Wow"
