Saw this on sebsational's journal, and just had to share... he's right. I'm not quite sure how to respond either, other than to stop and listen to that violinist whose notes soared at Porter Square station years ago.

I read that article a few months ago. Very cool. I love how buskers can range from ridiculously talented to v. v. bad.

I'm actually seeing Josh Bell perform tomorrow night. v. v. exciting.

There's a guy who plays Park station on a occasion, who I've stopped to listen to- turns out he's got a record deal and everything and is just doing the Subway station for the heck of it.

We get a lot of buskers where I live, all different instruments represented and many are of very high standards. We always get crowds of people gathering to listen to the good ones - and it is known as a city where you get decent money donated (a rather highbrow city don't you know! We likes our arts apparently...)

Articles like this do make you sad that so many don't think they have the time to stop and listen, appreciate the music and the artist's skill and perception. I liked the quote from the man who said he didn't listen to classical music - but that he enjoyed this as it made him feel at peace. Hooray for someone who 'got' it - and I hope he listens to more in the future. Now I have to track down CD's by Joshua Bell.... (he is GOOD!) Thanks for sharing this
