My first new car

I bought a TARDIS (aka a Honda Fit... or a Jazz if you're in certain countries). It's a light blue one - it came in the actual TARDIS blue, but none were in stock and I honestly loved this color equally, so I'm very happy. Manual transmission (my preferred, honestly), ability to use my iPod, leather shifter, and it's far bigger on the inside than you'd think.

I've already tripled its mileage - not hard when it had a whopping 20 as I drove it off the lot. Already plated with the ones I used on the Jeep and insured. The dealership's doing the registration for me.

But yes - this is my first purchased car... ever, and I'm very excited. *bouncing*

Oh, and random other note to follow up on my post this weekend - the Zero Room is back up and running normally. The server transfer and quality check is complete. :) I'll be doing my normal Wednesday backup tomorrow as scheduled. Glad I didn't have to do too much worrying about it.

*goes off bouncing*

I am so in love. And I walked out to take pictures and just had to stop and go "wait... that's MY CAR!!" and bounce some more.

My husband is amused.

My Jeep was a silver car (on the darker end of silver). I definitely wanted some color this time around.

I was honestly waffling on the color as we sat there, but decided that as geeky and wonderful as the dark blue would be, there's that slightly more "I need to not just go for geek here, especially if I can get a deal on the other color I really like."

I know from time to time I'll do the "OH why didn't I get the dark blue?!?" stupidity, but it's a surprisingly different color in the lot & stood out. And the pollen & dirt on one of the models outside was barely noticeable, so huge selling point.

But yes, they do have automatics. They run about $800-$1,000 more expensive than the manuals... so expect a base of about $16,300 on an automatic, just for your future possibilities.

Still *very* reasonable for any car, IMHO.

Not a car I have heard of but it's pretty. I love the color.

It's only been in the States for two years now, I think - but they have a good history overseas, which helped my decision. :)

The color is pretty nifty. :)

Thank you! :)

Took me long enough by U.S. standards to get one, eh? Age 34 and never bought a car before... hmm... I'm falling behind.

LOL--my first new-new car was bought after I graduated college. (I'd hoped to pay it off and keep it until it fell apart. I miss that car.)

Hubby is still waiting for his...almost 32 and still driving the car he had AT SIXTEEN. He wants a new car so bad he can taste it, but I have to admire his perseverance in using the one he has!

(Besides, so many perfectly good cars get traded in...)

I *loved* my Jeep, and if it hadn't died on me, I'd still be driving it. But the past three years had been so iffy with it... just time to end it. I basically did run it into the ground - sold it for a whopping $600. It was $37,000 when new.

IT is a good time to look for cars, as long as you plan well. The dealership I went to was very willing to deal. And I do NOT have good credit - they still offered me a loan with my husband as a co-signer.

Thank you!

It's very weird. I'm debating whether or not I want to risk driving it to work a few days, just for the hell of it. I have until Monday to decide that, though, since I'm off this week.

Congratulations on the car! I've only ever owned one car. As reliable as it's been, I think it's time to see about getting a new one. Maybe even TARDIS blue.

:) Thanks!

The TARDIS blue is really pretty, I have to say. It just pops out.

It's a handy little car - we went grocery shopping today, and had no problems with a massive 11-bag order plus 6 12-packs of soda, and three adults in the car. I still had an unobstructed view through my back window, even!
